# Synthetic answer-first patch

Status: unverified candidate; not a decision.

Provenance: written as a protocol fixture. It is not output from a named model,
Brian's code, or evidence about the behavior of AI assistants.

The patch checks the event ID, records it, then applies the account credit. A
retry returns the duplicate outcome without applying another credit. This keeps
the handler small and makes normal delivery idempotent.

The candidate claims the receipt prevents duplicate effects. It does not state
what remains when the credit transition fails after the receipt write.
